Sports and PE - GOLD SPORTS MARK SCHOOL
Sports Coordinator
Mrs Watson and Mrs Satchwell, our Sports Coordinators, are working hard to make our sports provision outstanding. Together with other school staff and professionals from external organisations, the school offers a range of sporting activities and clubs including football, netball, hockey and gymnastics.
Sports Coordinator
The school's Sports Coach, Mr Armstrong, provides a wide range of sporting opportunities and experiences for our pupils. He runs a range of after school clubs every day; these clubs are funded by the school.
Sporting Partnerships
We are active members of the Colchester Primary Sports League and participate and many inter-schools competitions in a range of sports. We were delighted to receive the Gold Sports Mark award for 2024-25 having previously received the Silver Sports Mark award for 2022-23 and the Bronze Sports' Mark in 2023-24.
PE and Sports Premium Funding
Our school receives PE and Sport Premium funding based on the number of pupils in school. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport.
Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.
We use our premium to:
- develop and add to the PE and sport activities that the school already offers
- make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
